There are some lovely old cottages out there which are used for holiday homes and rental portfolios. They come in all shapes, sizes and designs. Stone cottages in the Cotswolds and mid counties and yellow stone in mid Anglia. These areas also contain hundreds of gorgeous chocolate box thatched properties which are rarely on the sales market. Once a family has managed to purchase on of those, they hang on to them for ever. The only minior draw back to a thatch is the possible fire risk and some mortgage companies insist on ensuring the thatch hs been replaced or on seeing proof of the estimatd life expectancy of the currnt thatch. On the whole though, all cottages make very good investments, especially once the family have sorted out their main residence and can rent it out for earning.
